Criteria
1) Applicant must be eligible to receive an Alberta High School Diploma.
2) Applicant must:
a) Reside within the historical jurisdictional boundaries of BCSD #1 for a minimum of three years, and graduate from a Prairie Land High School; or
b) Reside within the historical jurisdictional boundary of BCSD #1 for a minimum of three years and be registered with Prairie Land for Gr. 10, 11 and 12: or
c) Reside within the historical boundaries of BCSD #1 for a minimum of three years and attend and graduate from another school as a special education placement
at the direction of the board of Prairie Land; or
d) Attend BCCS for Gr. 10, 11, and 12 and graduate from BCCS.
3) Applicant must submit a completed Prairie Land scholarship application form by June 30.
4) Applicant must be under 26 years of age on June 30 of each year of application.
5) The award will be made to an applicant who is in full-time attendance at an accredited post-secondary institution. Consideration is given for students attending
the academic portion of trades/apprenticeship programs.
Amount and Payment of Award
1. Award/s will be paid in two equal payments (beginning of first and second term) to the recipient/s upon official confirmation of registration and attendance at an
accredited post-secondary education institution. This confirmation is to be made to the Prairie Land Secretary-Treasurer. The onus for this requirement lies entirely with the recipient.
2. All qualifying applicants will share equally, as pro-rated to the length of studies, in the total amount of the prior year’s interest income minus a maximum of $1000
which will go to the BCCS Awards Committee after submission to the Prairie Land Secretary-Treasurer an accounting of expenses for awards, trophies, plaques, gifts
etc. to recognize academic and other achievements of the students attending BCCS.
Amount varies $1000 - $2000, given once per year.
